This antique jewellery box in coromandel was manufactured in the early 1870’s by the highly respected English cabinetmakers and retailers, Halstaff & Hannaford. The lid is inset with an engraved brass monogram bearing the initials ‘AJR’ beneath the crest of a swan.
The interior of the box is lined with green Morocco leather, moiré silk and velvet. A leather-bound tray can be removed to reveal a compartmented section beneath. There is a further full-width compartment to the rear of the box.
A push button to the rear rim of the box releases the spring-loaded lower drawer, also with compartmented sections.
The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with its key.
