This dressing case, veneered in rosewood with brass edging, recessed handles and inlay, was manufactured and retailed by one of the finest English cabinet makers, David Edwards.

The interior of the box contains twelve solid silver mounted/ cut glass vanity bottles and jars. The silver was manufactured by Archibald Douglas and hallmarked for London 1828. A removable top sub-tray contains ten vanity and sewing tools.

The ruched velvet flap in the lid drops forward to reveal a concealed letter wallet and removable freestanding mirror. A gold-tooled manufacturer’s mark to the letter wallet bears the name of, ‘D. Edwards, Manufacturer To His Majesty, 21 King Street, Bloomsbury, London. A further maker’s mark is stamped into the wood behind the mirror.

This dressing case comes in very good original condition. The Bramah lock is fully working with its original key.
