Dating from 1822, this antique jewellery box in Rosewood is inlaid with panels of Ebony accompanying ornate brass corner mounts and brass stringing. The perimeter of the box is edged with right-angle brass, and finished with recessed side handles and a Bramah lock.
The interior is lined with blue Morocco leather, velvet and moiré silk. The removable compartmented jewellery tray reveals further sections below There is brass facing to the internal rims of the box.
The ruched velvet panel in the lid drops forward to reveal a concealed letter wallet and a removable, freestanding mirror. Within the letter wallet is a paper label bearing the mark of Thomas Biggs of 57 Rathbone Place, Oxford Street, London.
The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with an original Bramah key.
