This miniature antique gentleman’s dressing case in Calamander dates from the mid 1870’s. It was manufactured by one of the finest English cabinetmakers, George Betjemann & Sons of 36 & 38 Pentonville Road, London.

The interior of the box is fitted with eight silver-plated bottles and jars with an engine turned design and vacant cartouches. Additionally, there is also a travelling shaving brush. Fitted beneath the main tray are six original vanity tools. A ruched velvet panel in the lid springs forward, with the push of a concealed button, to reveal a leather-framed mirror on the reverse.

A push button to the rear of the box releases a spring-loaded front drawer containing a velvet-lined jewellery area and a full width ring/ cuff-link channel.

The lock retains its original key.

This box comes in really lovely original condition throughout.
