Dating from the mid-1840’s, this impressive antique jewellery box is veneered in rosewood and inlaid with decorative perimeter brass.
The interior of the box is lined with blue velvet and Morocco leather. A compartmented leather-bound tray can be removed to reveal an open lined area beneath.
The ruched velvet panel in the lid drops forward to reveal a letter wallet, a removable mirror and a section for postage stamps. Within the letter wallet is a makers’ label for John Turrill of 52 New Bond Street, London.
The lock is fully working with its original key.
The condition of the box is excellent both externally and internally.
