Dating from the mid-1820’s, this antique jewellery box is veneered Brazilian rosewood, edged and inlaid with brass, and finished with recessed brass side handles and a Bramah lock. The box was manufactured and retailed by one of the finest English cabinet makers, David Edwards.
The interior of the box is lined with red velvet, moiré silk and Morocco leather decorated with Edward’s signature gold tooling.
An embossed leather panel on the inside of the lid displays the gold tooled maker’s mark of, ‘D. EDWARDS. MANUFACTURER TO HIS MAJESTY. 21 KINGS STREET. BLOOMSBURY, LONDON’.
The Bramah lock comes with its original key.
The condition of the box is very good both externally and internally.
