Dating from late 1860’s, this antique jewellery box is veneered in coromandel, edged with brass, and finished with a Bramah lock.

The interior of the box is lined with blue velvet, moiré silk, and Morocco leather. A push button to the rear rim of the box deploys the spring-loaded front drawer, and a push button to the left rim of the box deploys the spring-loaded drawer to the right side. The interior brass work is delicately engraved with a scroll design.

A leather framed panel fitted to the underside of the lid is inset with ruched velvet; a secret push button in the roof of the lid springs the panel forward to reveal a beveled mirror on the reverse. Two hinged, engraved brass brackets are located behind; these open out to 90-degrees in order to hold the mirror panel at a useable height and angle. A secret leather-bound letter wallet sits beneath these brackets.

The Bramah lock is fully working and comes with its original Bramah key.

The condition of the box is excellent both externally and internally.
