This exceptional dressing case, veneered in rose wood with brass edging, recessed handles and inlay, was manufactured and retailed by one of the finest English cabinet makers, David Edwards.
The interior of the box contains twelve solid silver mounted/ cut glass vanity bottles and jars. The silver was manufactured by Archibald Douglas and hallmarked for London 1826, 1827 & 1828. A removable top sub-tray contains ten vanity and sewing tools.
The ruched velvet flap in the lid drops forward to reveal a concealed letter wallet and removable freestanding mirror. A paper label within the letter wallet bears the mark of, ‘D. Edwards, 21 King Street, Bloomsbury. A further maker’s mark is stamped into the wood behind the mirror.
This dressing case comes in very good original condition throughout
The Bramah lock is fully working with its original key.
