This large antique jewellery box, dating from 1867, is veneered in burr walnut with brass edging and a Bramah lock.
The compartmented interior, housing a central removable tray, is lined with a combination of blue velvet and Morocco leather.
The ruched velvet panel in the lid drops forward to reveal a concealed leather-bound letter wallet and a removable leather-bound mirror.
An engraved brass plate to the rear rim of the box is engraved with the retailer’s mark of, ‘H.S Butcher – Jeweller – Wellingborough’. Pressing down on this plate releases a spring-loaded jewellery drawer below.
The Bramah lock retains its original Bramah key.
The box comes in excellent condition throughout.
